And expose the enormous dysfunction in the church (even though there's an equivalent rate of abuse among rabbis, gym teachers, scout leaders, and almost every other profession that works with young people).
Here's the infuriating part: the movie SPECIFICALLY ennobles the idea of following the truth wherever. It rightfully condemns the lie that there is any "higher good" or religious dogma that is more important that exposing the truth of molestation.... And then it feeds into the mouths of its heroic journalists the dogmatic LIES that Catholic sex abuse is "not about being gay" and that girls could have been abused in similar numbers, but it was merely boys because priests had "access" to boys.
FUCK this drives me crazy when libs do this. They would rather protect their religious devotion to homosexuality than simply allow the numbers and common sense to show that the scandal was largely homosexual in nature.
The fact that they slide these awkward gay-defenses into a movie purportedly about tearing down defenses of child abuse is unbelievable. |

The VAST majority of priest/seminarian victims were teenage males. And few heterosexual adult men blow a 16 year old male just because teen girls are a little less accessible. When a teen male has sex with an adult male, there's a word for that.
But for dogmatic reasons Hollywood and the Boston journalists averted their eyes from this. So brave! |
